Ch.11-book 2
A common theme I found in the books assigned this summer? Mortal peril. We are no longer leading through the pages of fairy tales, ladies and gents. We are onto the literaturebto burst our bubbles and makevour jaws drop to the floor.
If Valentino is one thing, and one thing only, it is adaptable. How he escaped the Sahara, murderous people and lions is beyond me. And the fact that he has the(in?)sanity to tackle a new country and custom completely floors me.
Conflict. It's presence is felt within every society and every racial group, the Sudanese included. They segregate themselves into tribes thus weakening their unity as a people. And the Sudanese shun those of a lower social class as those they see as belittling them with gifts, like Mary whose kindness was rejected.
